The Be What You Want Inspo! is coming back to Sydney for the second event in its inaugural location.

On 23 May underprivileged young people from across Sydney will come together with local businesses for an interactive event that will engage and inspire them.

The Inspo! keeps growing and growing, and this is no exception. This year will see both Youth off the Streets and the Salvation Army returning, as well as participation from several other local charities who provide ongoing assistance to young people from difficult backgrounds, including homelessness alcohol and drug addictions and minority groups.

Chris Hall, Director and Founder of Be What You Want is excited to have so many more youth on board for the event. “I’m thrilled so many more charities are getting involved, which means our participant numbers this year will be up significantly. Due to this, we are also looking to get more businesses involved, meaning the young people will get to experience a greater choice of career opportunities.”

“It’s amazing to see the impact the Inspo! has on the participants. The young people involved absolutely shine, and it’s an amazing day for participants and volunteers alike,” he added.

Be What You Want is currently seeking sponsors, exhibitors and volunteers for this event.

Be What You Want held its second Inspo! on 20 September 2011, bringing together young people from across Melbourne for a fun and interactive career expo. The young participants were members of programs run by Teach for Australia and the Salvation Army.

With the assistance of nine volunteers and 16 local businesses, nearly 160 young people took part in the event where they engaged in fun and interactive activities ranging from Hip Hop Dancing to Auto Mechanic workshops. The focus was on presenting them a snapshot of careers available in a fun and interactive environment that encouraged participation and inspiration.

Be What You Want is proud to have delivered another major event with a high level of engagement from the students, businesses and volunteers alike. In March 2011 Sydney saw 70 young people attend the Be What You Want event. Seeing the participation grow to 160+ young people and grow from 10 local businesses to 16 businesses is fantastic!

Be What You Want would like to thank the local organising committee in Melbourne for planning and conducting the event, as well as the major event sponsors, Melbourne Olympic Park, Delaware, Wood Group and Accenture.

Interactive and Fun Career Expo “Be What You Want” ran for the first time on March 4th, 2011. Be What You Want was organized and run by a volunteer committee who worked in partnership with two local charities, Youth off the Streets and the Salvation Army Oasis Outreach Programme.

On the day, 18 Volunteers and eleven Career stands run by Industry Volunteers made the event a reality. Seventy youth showed up and engaged in fun activities ranging from Hip Hop Dancing to Sushi Classes! The Need: Sydney’s is home to hundreds of young people who do not have a steady, safe and supportive environment. These young people, like all, are full of potential to succeed in life and make a positive contribution. However, they cannot do it without help.

Be What You Want is about Inspiration and building Self Esteem through fun activities and meeting real people in real jobs!

As a team we were touched, moved and inspired by the impact we observed on the youth whom participated and there is a strong momentum to ramp up for many more events of this kind!
